Job Summary

As a Clinical Pharmacy Team Lead at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, you will play a critical role in leading a team of staff members and actively participating in the overall management of the department. Your focus will be on assigned clinical areas, where you will lead the development of clinical practice standards and protocols, and provide patient-focused delivery of care and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day performance of staff through ongoing assessment and coaching to achieve goals.
  • Complete formal evaluations of direct reports.
  • Support the leadership team in developing staff members by providing substantive feedback.
  • Implement pharmacy-specific policies and practice guidelines in accordance with VUMC policy and regulatory standards.
  • Engage with other departments and vendors as appropriate.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of clinical programs in assigned areas.
Technical Capabilities
  • Quality Management: Has provided continuous analysis and evaluation of assignment work processes, striving for improvement in the way tasks and activities are accomplished.
  • Business Results: Implements appropriate measures for attaining business results and tracks progress in meeting goals and objectives.
  • Operations Planning: Demonstrates the ability to realistically anticipate resource needs, identify discrete tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work within areas of direct responsibility.
  • People Management: Conducts performance reviews, delegates tasks to others, coaches subordinates on technical and interpersonal topics, and provides leadership through personal example.
  • Compliance: Can explain and apply basic statutory instructions in normal situations on the job.
  • Leadership: Sets the example in challenging and difficult situations, demonstrates different leadership styles, and communicates team and unit goals clearly and effectively.
Core Accountabilities
  • Plans and sets day-to-day objectives for the team that have a direct effect on the results of the department or area that the job is in.
  • Resolves technical and operational problems within provided guidelines.
  • Applies advanced subject matter knowledge within a specific technical area and basic management knowledge to support the team.
  • Leads/supervises a unit within a department or a small department.
Position Qualifications
  • Certifications: LIC-Pharmacist License - Tennessee.
  • Work Experience: 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (required).
