Job Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Pharmacy Manager/Supervisor in training and coordinating the efforts of a group of pharmacy technicians into an efficient support team. Your responsibilities will include assigning and coordinating the work schedule for a large group of technicians, monitoring their activities to ensure compliance with hospital and department policies and procedures, and participating in interviews with pharmacy technician candidates and selection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and/or distribution of medications.
  • Apply departmental processes regarding inventory control.
  • Operate computer systems and utilize technology.
  • Work collaboratively with Pharmacy management to effect positive change in the workplace.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain new programs and protocols.
  • Oversee and review quality assurance data and take corrective action for variances.
  • Perform any job duty of a Pharmacy Technician Specialist.
Technical Capabilities
  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Intermediate): Has demonstrated a high level of proficiency in understanding computers or has successfully completed additional training for applications that are used to support more complex or automated medication use processes.
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Expert): Is a recognized technical expert in assisting the pharmacist in drug preparation, dispensing, and distribution.
  • Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Advanced): Possesses specialized knowledge of the appropriate rules and regulations and applies them in difficult, stressful, and complex situations.
  • Drug Inventory & Records Management (Advanced): Demonstrates expertise working with drug inventory and records management.
  • Program Management (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to administer a program or product.
  • Mentoring & Coaching (Intermediate): Demonstrates good training and mentoring practices on a regular basis.
Core Accountabilities
  • Plans and sets day-to-day objectives for the team that have a direct effect on the results of the department or area that the job is in.
  • Resolves technical and operational problems within provided guidelines.
  • Applies advanced subject matter knowledge within a specific technical area and basic management knowledge to support the team.
  • Leads/supervises a unit within a department or a small department.
Position Qualifications
  • Certifications: LIC-Pharmacy Technician - Tennessee.
  • Work Experience: Relevant work experience of 4 years.
  • Education: Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
