NICU Director Level III RN

The Director of Nursing for our Level III NICU is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the unit's function and staffing. This includes forecasting, planning, and budget monitoring. The Director fosters a culture of accountability and collaboration, supporting the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures in support of facility objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Cultivate a superior clinical identity by identifying and implementing evidence-based practices to advance patient safety and quality outcomes.
- Manage variation in clinical practice to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost. Ensure a culture of accountability and transparency in the provision of care.
- Stay abreast of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations and actively pursue efforts to achieve.
- Ensure efficient patient throughput and delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care through volume forecasting, patient flow coordination, and admission/discharge planning.
- Develop care coordination policies and procedures to promote improved quality, safety, and efficiency in care.
- Foster interdisciplinary communication and collaboration within and across departments and ensure staff with appropriate clinical competencies are assigned to meet patient care needs.
- Direct nursing practice and unit operations. Develop policies, procedures, and nursing standards to ensure patient and family needs are assessed, met, and evaluated.
- Provide leadership in attaining and sustaining an unparalleled patient experience.
- Bachelor's Degree or other approved education plan required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
- BLS.
- ACLS preferred.
- L&D: NRP preferred/ FHM preferred/ RNC-OB preferred.
- 1+ year of experience in healthcare required.
- 1+ year of experience in a leadership role required.
- # beds: 99 oversight.
- Level 3 NICU.
- FTE (total in unit/ direct): 150 with 2 Managers.
- Types of patients (adult/peds): Peds.
- Current Nurse to nurse-to-patient ratio: 2 or 3 to 1 patient.
- Unit volume-: daily census 75.
- Shift- specify your expectations on hours: M-F, standard leadership shift.
- Staff shifts: 12-hour shifts.
- Call required: (Y/N) rotates call with 2 managers.
- Bonus eligible.
- Relocation eligible.
