Los Angeles, California, United States Joveo CPA - ASPCA (A) Full time

Overview:

About Us:

Have you ever considered the fate of pets whose owners struggle to afford veterinary services? At the ASPCA's Community Medicine (CM) division, we deliver expert veterinary assistance to enhance the welfare of animals and their owners through our stationary and mobile clinics, targeting the most underserved areas. Our mission is to help pet owners navigate barriers to care, providing quality services directly within the communities that require it the most, often subsidizing the costs of essential and preventive care. CM is dedicated to treating both pets and their owners with dignity and respect, empowering them to make informed choices regarding their pets' health, irrespective of financial constraints. By working with us, you become part of a team of over 1,000 passionate professionals committed to animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist animals in need. Our proficient veterinarians, supported by licensed technicians and assistants, deliver vital services to pets and rescue animals in urgent need. CM's medical team attends to over 100,000 animals annually, with many more awaiting assistance. Financial concerns for clients are alleviated as the ASPCA offers services to eligible clients at minimal or no cost. The CM program provides high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN), preventive care, and treatment for minor ailments and injuries. Experienced HQHVSN surgeons may select either surgical days or days dedicated to preventive and basic care, known as Primary Pet Care (PPC). Those with small animal experience but lacking HQHVSN can opt for PPC shifts. Services are rendered at our stationary clinic or on our advanced mobile veterinary units.

Work Schedule:

This is a temporary, contingent role, with employment facilitated through a third-party staffing agency. Relief/fill-in opportunities are available Monday through Friday.

COVID Statement:

Full vaccination is a prerequisite for this position, which necessitates onsite work. The ASPCA accommodates qualified applicants with disabilities or sincerely held religious beliefs that prevent vaccination.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and supervise all aspects of minor outpatient surgical procedures.
  • Ensure a safe and compassionate environment for animals, staff, and clients through low-stress handling techniques.
  • Triage and refer cases that fall outside CM's care parameters as necessary.
  • Conduct humane euthanasia in accordance with ASPCA policies and CM protocols.

About Us:
The ASPCA was established in 1866 on the principle that animals deserve kind and respectful treatment from humans and must be legally protected. As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization with over two million supporters nationwide, the ASPCA is dedicated to preventing cruelty to dogs, cats, equines, and farm animals across the United States.

The ASPCA's headquarters is located in New York City, where we operate a full-service animal hospital, spay/neuter clinic, mobile spay/neuter and primary pet care clinics, a rehabilitation center for canine victims of cruelty, a kitten nursery, an adoption center, and two community veterinary centers.

We also run programs and services that extend nationwide, assisting animals in need through disaster and cruelty interventions, behavioral rehabilitation, animal placement, legal advocacy, and the advancement of the sheltering and veterinary community through research, training, and resources.

At the ASPCA, we are committed to fostering a collaborative and compassionate culture, welcoming diverse voices to contribute to our lifesaving mission. Our staff represents a wide array of backgrounds and experiences, joining the ASPCA to learn, grow, and excel in their work on behalf of animals. We are inspired by our staff, partners, and the communities we support nationwide who strive to improve animal lives. Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is integral to our organizational culture, aligning with our Core Values and propelling us toward our vision – that all animals live good lives, valued by society, protected by its laws, and free from cruelty, pain, and suffering.
