Job Summary

We are seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Inpatient Neurosurgery team. This role offers a rotating schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week, Monday-Friday, with opportunities to pick up weekend shifts. No call or holidays are required.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in neurology and possess the necessary education and certifications to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

* Conducting and documenting comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status
* Synthesizing data and utilizing evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results
* Demonstrating proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate based on specialty and training
* Providing relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

* A Master's degree or higher in nursing, with completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program, or a graduate of a Master's degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program
* Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the Texas State Board of Nursing, authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing, and acute care certification
* Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association or Red Cross based on the UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers

Salary and Location

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience. The location is the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
