About the Position:

As a Plastics Manufacturing Process Specialist at our facilities, you will be integral to Contech's plastics production operations. Engage in our commitment to Operational Excellence by implementing new process technologies, standardization, product launches, and ongoing enhancements. This role requires you to be a technical authority, addressing challenges, setting production objectives, and driving efficiencies to uphold the highest manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Root Cause Investigation: Analyze product quality concerns, technical/process challenges, and equipment malfunctions. Formulate effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Process Enhancement: Identify and rectify process challenges with sustainable solutions across production sites and suppliers.
  • Effective Communication: Liaise with clients and suppliers to procure necessary materials and equipment.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee assigned projects, including planning, coordination, management, and follow-up. Ensure projects meet established targets and remain within budget.
  • Technological Advancements: Promote new technological improvements, including product/process introductions and manufacturing workflows to minimize waste.
  • Lean Culture Promotion: Foster a culture of Lean Thinking through process standardization, setup reduction, and optimized layouts for reduced operational costs.
  • Preventive Maintenance Development: Create and implement sustainable preventive maintenance strategies for equipment, tooling, and facilities.
  • Documentation Management: Develop and document modifications to processes and equipment using the change management system.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage in cross-departmental teams to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and overall productivity.
  • Technical Training: Provide technical training and support to the production team on machinery operation, extrusion/molding techniques, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement Monitoring: Evaluate and validate existing processes, equipment, and tooling for ongoing improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Work with Production, Facilities, and Maintenance to ensure an optimal operational environment.
  • Leadership: Guide the manufacturing team in achieving safety, quality, and production objectives. Ensure smooth and efficient production operations.
  • Data Collection: Gather and organize production data for analysis and reporting.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Plastics, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in plastics extrusion technologies.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience in project management, including planning, coordination, execution, and follow-up.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Results-oriented self-starter capable of executing responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interact professionally with team members, suppliers, and clients.
  • Knowledge of data-driven root cause analysis methodologies and ability to train others.
  • Expertise in extrusion and injection molding process development and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of parts prints and inspection procedures.
  • Proficiency in 3D AutoCAD and MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and 5S methodologies is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
