Position Overview

As the Capital & Project Manager, you will report directly to the Plant Manager and be tasked with the interpretation, organization, execution, and oversight of strategic capital enhancements and specialized projects within the engineering division at our New Johnsonville, TN facility. Your responsibilities will encompass engineering evaluations, project oversight, budget management, and the sustainability strategy for designated capital initiatives. Additionally, you will lead the maintenance of the Plant's Five-Year Capital Plan.

The Capital & Project Manager is an integral member of the Plant Leadership Team, which collaborates to prioritize safety, uphold the company's vision and objectives, and drive operational excellence. This role requires the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the comprehensive project schedule, scope, budget, and quality through proficient project management for all site projects.
  • Manage intricate engineering projects related to new production lines, capital investments, and cost-saving initiatives, including the preparation of capital appropriations and the execution of engineering projects from initial concept to operational hand-off.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication among project team members, vendors, operations, and management regarding safety incidents, project delays, budget adjustments, or impacts on ongoing projects.
  • Administer the overall capital budget, which involves tracking capital expenditures for various engineering projects, coordinating with the Purchasing Department for bids on capital investments, and assisting in contract awards to the most advantageous vendors.
  • Effectively coordinate multiple concurrent projects, establishing timelines and deadlines for planning, implementing, and sustaining relevant engineering initiatives.
  • Collaborate with site management to supervise external vendors and contractors, ensuring that safety standards are consistently met or exceeded throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Serve as a backup for other managerial roles during absences and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned, necessitating a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and instrumentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience, including at least 2 years in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong planning and organizational capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of Continuous Improvement Processes, Project Management, and Process Control Systems.
  • Proven Project Management expertise.
