Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage incoming calls and accurately enter patient registration information, including demographics, insurance details, and clinical data into the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Handle telephone inquiries following established protocols for scheduling, ensuring exceptional customer service and directing unresolved issues to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Employ professional telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and hospital staff.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including Patient Access Services and Utilization Review, to address any issues or gather additional information necessary for authorizations, referrals, or pre-certifications.
  • Conduct insurance eligibility verifications for patients scheduled for appointments and work closely with the billing manager to ensure all financial prerequisites are fulfilled.
  • Process incoming referrals and proactively contact patients to arrange appointments for surgical procedures or in-clinic visits.
  • Collect medical records to secure prior authorizations for office procedures before patient visits.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient understanding of medical terminology is essential.
  • Experience in scheduling surgical procedures is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a medical office environment is required.
  • Exceptional customer service skills are highly valued.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills is necessary.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Additional medical certifications will be considered an asset.
