Industrial Coatings Specialist

The Industrial Coatings Specialist is responsible for preparing surfaces and applying paint, coatings, or other finishes to buildings, structures, machinery, and other industrial or commercial equipment. This role requires expertise in handling large-scale painting projects, operating specialized equipment, and working with various types of paints, coatings, and application techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and other methods.
- Apply primers, sealers, paints, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Select the appropriate paint or coating materials based on surface type, durability needs, and project requirements.
- Mix and match paint colors to achieve desired results.
- Work with industrial coatings, such as epoxy, urethane, and specialty coatings, to provide long-lasting, durable finishes.
- Operate and maintain painting equipment, including airless sprayers, compressors, and other machinery.
- Use scaffolding, lifts, ladders, or other safety equipment to access hard-to-reach areas.
- Ensure proper ventilation and safety procedures are followed when working with hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and materials are stored properly.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Perform touch-ups, repairs, and refinishing on surfaces as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Keep records of materials used and time spent on each project for reporting purposes.
- Provide recommendations for surface preparation and painting solutions based on client needs and environmental conditions.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience as a commercial or industrial painter.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of surface preparation techniques and painting/coating applications for a variety of industrial and commercial materials (e.g., metal, wood, concrete).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with painting tools and equipment, including airless sprayers, pressure washers, and scaffolding.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to ensure a high-quality finish and durability of the coating.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve painting-related issues efficiently.
- Certifications: OSHA safety certification or other relevant industrial safety certifications (preferred but not required).
- Communication: Good verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members and project managers.
- Work Ethic: Must be reliable, punctual, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
