Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in serving patients and maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment
  • Prepare the pharmacy for opening by sterilizing surfaces and equipment
  • Greet customers and answer questions in a professional and courteous manner
  • Receive and verify prescriptions, ensuring all information is complete and accurate
  • Process prescriptions electronically and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Select and measure medications to fill prescriptions, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Sort, stock, and label medication, monitoring inventory levels
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as record-keeping and data entry
  • Comply with all security measures and quality standards, staying up-to-date with HIPAA, HITECH, and FWA credentialing
  • Assist pharmacists with clinical and non-clinical operations, documenting and reporting any issues as necessary
  • Package and prepare medication for delivery, coordinating with patients and courier services
  • Communicate with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims
  • Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Requirements
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (if required in your state of practice)
  • At least one year of experience as a pharmacy technician
  • Experience with Micro Merchant pharmacy system
  • Knowledge of medication and dosage calculations, as well as pharmacy law and medical terminology
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a keen eye for detail and a reliable work ethic
