Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Revenue Integrity, the Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in data gathering, report generation, and thorough financial analysis related to hospital operations. This position supports the internal functions of Revenue Integrity and the broader revenue cycle initiatives. The analyst will oversee charge capture processes, manage system interfaces among various charge capture platforms, and contribute to charge automation projects. Collaboration with revenue cycle partners will be essential for programming enhancements and system upgrades. The role involves retrieving data for both standard and ad hoc reporting, with analyses focusing on trends, benchmarks, functional workflows, and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement within the revenue cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and recommend modifications to system policies and procedures to ensure optimal utilization. (10%)
  • Create comprehensive analytical reports and summaries, collecting relevant data to address assigned challenges. Ensure the availability of accurate and timely information to assist leadership in identifying improvement opportunities. (30%)
  • Conduct extensive analyses, including benchmarking and performance evaluations for revenue integrity functions. Identify corrective actions based on internal and external trend analyses. (30%)
  • Monitor daily charge processing and system interfaces, addressing issues as they arise. Serve as a liaison among staff, department managers, and revenue cycle teams. (20%)
  • Participate in project planning for system upgrades and programming enhancements, defining objectives, scope, resources, timelines, and expected outcomes. Collaborate with project members to share information and resolve issues. (10%)

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with health system personnel at all levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience with hospital billing systems and knowledge of third-party billing requirements, typically acquired through five years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in converting master files into reports and conducting complex data analysis.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Access and Excel.
  • In-depth knowledge of split fee billing and outpatient charging practices.
  • Relevant coding certification (CPC-H, CPC, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
  • Ability to interpret governmental and commercial payer regulations effectively.
  • Understanding of provider and governmental processes, as well as HIPAA regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
