Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter Assistant to join our team at Brown & Root Industrial Services. As a Pipefitter Assistant, you will assist journeyman-level pipefitters in laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Select and prepare the necessary materials and equipment for piping systems, including pipes, fittings, and supports.
• Inspect work sites to identify potential obstructions and plan the installation sequence to avoid them.
• Cut, thread, and bend pipes using various tools and equipment.
• Assemble and install pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
• Secure pipes to structures using brackets, clamps, and hangers.
• Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure and observing gauges.
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities on tools and equipment.

• Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
• Work at heights without fear.
• Compare and see differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 0-2 years of experience in the field or a related area.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks in a timely, safe, and efficient manner.
• Typically reports to a Foreman or other direct supervisor.

Physical Requirements

• Strength: Standing 60%, Walking 20%, Sitting 20%.
• Lifting 50 lb., Carrying 50 lb., Pushing 70 ft-lb., Pulling 70 ft-lb.

Work Environment

• May work at heights without fear.
• May be required to wear respiratory protection.
