POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role serves as a key contributor within the Accounting and Finance division, focusing on operational and financial analysis alongside relevant accounting tasks. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this position collaborates closely with the accounting leadership team on various financial initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct comprehensive planning and analysis activities.
  • Develop financial models and analytics.
  • Ensure data integrity and challenge discrepancies.
  • Enhance accuracy by aligning key drivers and identifying root causes of variances.
  • Assist management in executing strategic initiatives and process improvements.

Engage in financial closing activities:

  • Prepare variance analyses comparing actual results to forecasts.
  • Generate supporting journal entries related to gross profit.
  • Comprehend operational transactions, including derivatives, to facilitate financial reporting and analysis.
  • Investigate unusual transactions and their effects on gross profit.
  • Collaborate with the Risk team to understand Marked to Market (MtM) balances influencing gross profit reporting.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports for management and the Board of Directors.
  • Assist management by preparing documentation for audit inquiries as required.
  • Undertake special projects and ad hoc analyses as requested by the Accounting and Finance leadership team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis.
  • Hybrid work arrangement available.
  • Strong personal initiative and self-motivation are essential.
  • Deep understanding of financial analysis and modeling, with an emphasis on data comprehension.
  • Proficient in computer skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with reporting tools such as Management Reporter and Power BI is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Willingness to learn across various domains and take on complex accounting responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capacity to work independently to resolve issues.
  • Ability to see the broader organizational context while understanding intricate details of processes.
  • Experience with Right Angle and Microsoft Great Plains is a plus.
