Purchasing and Procurement Role

Bexar County, TX is seeking a skilled Purchasing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for contract negotiation and administration of formally advertised higher dollar and more complex purchases from concept stages through receipt and closeout.

Your primary duties will include developing contract specifications and source lists, determining and implementing proper purchasing methods to ensure compliance with applicable directives, and administering contracts and purchase orders. You will also be responsible for soliciting telephone quotations and preparing formal solicitation documents, as well as evaluating and monitoring contract performance, compliance and contractual obligations for professional service agreements, discretionary agreements, or large high-risk contract engagements.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, or a related field, and five (5) years' of professional experience in buying, contract writing and administration. You will also need to have considerable knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures, as well as good knowledge of basic contract law.

In addition to your technical skills, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external customers. You will also need to be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity machinery.

Requirements
