Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Sonographer PRN at SSM Health, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by performing diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics. This position requires expertise in adult and pediatric echo sonography, and you will work closely with a team of highly skilled professionals to ensure accurate and timely results.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Perform diagnostic procedures, record patient test results, and report results to physicians.
  • Monitor patient comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and verify all equipment is in proper working condition, reporting deficiencies and failures.
  • Position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
  • Ensure all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area, and other areas.
Education and Experience

Completion of an echo sonography program is required. No experience is necessary, but a strong foundation in cardiac imaging and patient care is essential.

Physical Requirements

Constant standing and walking are required, as well as frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication is also necessary.

Required Professional Licenses and Certifications

Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) are required. Alternatively, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with Adult Echocardiography (AE) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) may be substituted.

Work Environment
