As a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with SSM Health, you will play a critical role in assessing cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with accepted protocols. This position involves performing adult and pediatric echo sonography, ensuring the highest quality of images and documents sent to PACS.
Responsibilities and Requirements- Perform diagnostic procedures, record patient test results, and report results.
- Monitor patient comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.
- Maintain adequate supplies and verify all equipment is in proper working condition, reporting deficiencies and failures.
- Position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
- Ensure all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area, and other areas.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Completion of an echo sonography program is required. No experience is necessary.
Physical RequirementsConstant standing and walking are required. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far, hearing and speech to share information, and lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs are also required.
Required Professional Licenses and CertificationsBasic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with Adult Echocardiography (AE) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) are required.
Work EnvironmentThis position is located at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - Lake Saint Louis, a level III Trauma Center and specialized in obstetric and pediatric care.
