Job Summary

Uncommon Schools NYC is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Math Teacher to join our team. As a Middle School Math Teacher, you will play a critical role in helping students grow towards being self-guided learners. You will work in grade level teams to develop academic goals and practice instructional strategies.

Responsibilities

1. Instruction

  • You will teach foundational middle school math principles such as ratio/proportions, expressions/equations, and the number system.
  • You will use our in-house CCSS-based Math curriculum and culturally responsive problem-solving activities.
  • You will motivate students to grapple with problems and think critically about all the different possible paths to solving them.
  • You will use your love of mathematics to foster confidence and meaningful engagement with the subject for students.

2. Data Analysis

  • You will meet weekly with your principal and/or instructional coach to analyze and respond to trends in student work samples and assessments.
  • You will learn and implement strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners in your classroom.

Compensation for this position: The starting compensation for this role is between $65,000 to $103,900. The starting pay will depend on various factors including but not limited to relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools NYC. Because we value staff tenure in a role, we do not currently cap salary ranges for current staff members.
