Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our team at Emory University's Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, optimizing patient care, and contributing to the development of our clinical, educational, and research programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interface with physicians and technologists to achieve compliance and optimize care, education, and research.
  • Work collaboratively with Emory Radiology and Imaging Sciences, Grady, Emory Quality committees, and Emory Radiation Safety.
  • Ensure TJC compliance for all applicable CT and fluoroscopy scanners.
  • Assess current needs and prioritize corrective actions needed to maintain compliance.
  • Assist with policy development and maintenance.
  • Assist with radiation dose monitoring.
  • Facilitate ACR accreditation for all applicable CT scanners.
  • Manage and monitor technologists QC/QA program and ensure compliance with TJC and ACR.
  • Partner with physicians on CT image quality and dose optimization and oversee protocol changes.
  • Support CT operations and radiology physicians to refine CT technologist performance.
  • Consult with operations, imaging informatics, and RIS support staff on RIS functionality.
  • Optimize existing CT Equipment and provide input on CT upgrades or expansions.
  • Provide dosimetry dose reconstruction for Radiation Safety, Risk Management, or patients requests.
  • Assist Radiation Safety with fluoroscopy dose monitoring and skin dose calculations.
  • Mentor Emory medical physics imaging residents.
  • Develop and maintain technologist training courses.
  • Support Emory research staff with CT research projects.
Requirements
  • Master's level degree in medical physics or a related degree such as health physics or radiological sciences.
  • Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Radiology.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with physicians, technologists, and researchers.
  • Strong expertise in diagnostic medical physics.
