Veterinary Nurse II

The Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University is seeking a skilled Veterinary Nurse II - Large Animal Float to join our team. As a key member of our dedicated team, you will provide exceptional patient care and quality customer service in the equine and livestock sections of the Veterinary Health Center.
This role involves providing veterinary support and performing semi-routine tasks, including assisting with patient care, administering treatments, and participating in equine and livestock field service or on-call large animal surgery. You will work Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with participation in the on-call schedule.

Requirements:- Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of basic veterinary medical concepts, animal behavior, and animal husbandry
- Ability to perform general diagnostic procedures and technical tasks associated with emergency medical care
- Ability to work with and provide preventative maintenance for ordinary veterinary medical hospital equipment
- Ability to follow IACUC protocols established for use of teaching animals
- Ability to adhere to appropriate safety procedures
- Ability to be a self-starter and be proactive in assisting others
- Ability to multi-task and work in a high intensity environment
- Ability to handle, restrain, and provide medical treatments to domestic animals
- Skilled in time management and prioritizing daily responsibilities
- Skilled in interpersonal and written communication
- Skilled in basic computer skills
- Willing to master new techniques
