Position Summary

The NDSU Extension Service plays a vital role in Morton County by offering educational programs across several key sectors: Agriculture & Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community Vitality, and 4-H Youth Development. The selected candidate will undertake a variety of administrative support tasks to enhance the efficiency of extension services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for individuals seeking assistance from the Morton County Extension Office, providing direction and support as needed.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, oversee records retention, maintain inventory, and ensure the preservation of documents.
  • Gather and analyze information to prepare reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist volunteers by evaluating the quality of their contributions and ensuring thoroughness in their work.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules for shared office equipment within the Extension Office.
  • Compile and organize information for newsletters and maintain associated websites.
  • Handle financial responsibilities related to the receipt and safeguarding of funds.
  • Engage with youth and their families by managing 4-H Online and assisting in the organization of 4-H events and educational programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with two years of relevant office support or clerical experience. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and possess strong organizational skills. Alternatively, a combination of vocational education, training, or experience that provides equivalent knowledge and skills will be considered. Proficiency in keyboarding, basic computer applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), and strong grammar and spelling skills are essential.

A valid Driver's License is required.

Extensive experience with 4-H as a participant or volunteer is highly preferred.
