Job Summary


The role involves assisting patients, residents, or clients with therapeutic activities and exercises outlined in their treatment plans, under the guidance of a licensed physical therapist. The aim is to enhance the quality of life and daily functioning of those in care.

Responsibilities include delivering, monitoring, and documenting therapy services for individuals with physical, cognitive, or developmental challenges, adhering to established standards and practices.

The therapeutic support specialist will select, implement, and adjust therapeutic activities and interventions that align with their demonstrated skills, the goals of the patients, and the requirements of the practice environment.

Collaboration with the supervising physical therapist is essential, involving the exchange of information and documentation regarding patient responses and communications during therapy sessions.

It is crucial to be well-informed about the targeted outcomes of physical therapy for each patient and to provide relevant documentation regarding the achievement of these outcomes.

Adherence to accepted clinical practice guidelines is mandatory, and additional related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Depending on facility needs, the focus may include individuals receiving care in post-acute, long-term care, and home health settings.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess the appropriate educational background as per state licensure requirements and must be graduates of an accredited American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) program as a Physical Therapist Assistant. A valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the relevant state(s) is required, along with compliance with supervision and licensing standards. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within six months of employment. A valid driver's license may be necessary in certain situations.
