Job Overview

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Accountable for:
  • Comprehending and adhering to company policies, procedures, and directives
  • Identifying and reporting any product, process, or quality discrepancies to supervisory staff
  • Managing nonconforming products effectively
  • Assisting in the execution of corrective, preventive, and improvement measures
  • Utilizing personal protective equipment as necessary
  1. Familiarity with the Crown Quality System and its relevance to this role and overall quality objectives.
  2. Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area
  3. Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment
  4. Loading positive and negative plates into designated magazines
  5. Feeding separator rolls and materials through the machinery
  6. Monitoring automatic stacking equipment to ensure proper cell assembly
  7. Loading cells into an automated machine for lead strap application, ensuring correct orientation
  8. Verifying effective bonding of plate lugs within the lead strap
  9. Ensuring proper loading of finished cells into robotic systems
  10. Testing batteries for direct shorts using handheld probes or automated testing equipment
  11. Welding cells together using automated spot welding machinery
  12. Applying covers to containers with automated heat sealing technology
  13. Conducting perimeter leak tests on batteries using automated testing machines
  14. Stamping assembled batteries with identification codes and forwarding them for further processing

Work Environment/Physical Requirements: The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While executing job duties, the employee must be able to stand or walk for extended periods, engage in bending, twisting, and turning motions. Full use of both hands for handling tools and materials is necessary, along with the ability to lift or move up to 75 pounds frequently and occasionally over 140 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Compliance with OSHA guidelines regarding respirator fit testing and proper usage is mandatory. Protective eyewear or face shields must be worn at all times in the work area.

This is a full-time role with a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, consisting of a minimum of 8-hour shifts. Flexibility for mandatory overtime, including potential weekend shifts, is required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Experience in safety and environmental training
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous machine operation experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced production setting
