Position Overview

HDR Engineering is actively seeking experienced Transmission Line Engineering Managers to enhance our esteemed and nationally recognized Power Delivery team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Transmission Line Engineering Manager, you will leverage your extensive technical knowledge and experience in the design and construction of high voltage transmission line projects. Your role will include:
  • Collaborating closely with Project Managers to oversee the engineering and design elements of transmission projects.
  • Formulating and executing a project execution strategy for the technical aspects of transmission initiatives.
  • Mentoring and supervising Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD technicians, and administrative personnel.
  • Assisting in managing project scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development and risk management.
  • Leading the QA/QC process on projects in accordance with HDR's Quality Management Systems.
  • Conducting quality reviews of projects from other teams as necessary.
  • Participating in project evaluations and reviews.
  • Occasionally managing multiple projects simultaneously, utilizing teams across various locations.
  • Engaging with senior engineers to enhance technical expertise and attending relevant training and seminars.
  • Contributing to the development of technical papers and presentations for industry conferences.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural degrees may also be considered).
  • A minimum of 10 years of design experience managing civil/site design projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MicroStation, InRoads, and other relevant civil engineering software.
  • Experience in Project Engineering and Project Management.
  • A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Experience in distribution line design and/or modeling of steel lattice towers is a plus.
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and project staff.
  • Experience with renewable energy developers and interconnection processes is beneficial.
  • At least 8 years of experience in transmission line engineering within the electric utility or renewables sector.
  • Familiarity with transmission line design software such as PLS-CADD, and experience in structure analysis/design, foundation design, and construction support.
