Overview:


The Laboratory Support Specialist will play a crucial role in assisting with the upkeep of a well-organized and sanitary laboratory environment for the Product Development research team.

This position emphasizes the importance of cleaning and sorting laboratory glassware, monitoring inventory levels, and maintaining organization within the lab.

Key Responsibilities:
Consistent attendance and punctuality – participating in mandatory training sessions as required.

Ensure proper cleaning, sanitization, storage, and organization of laboratory glassware and equipment.

Utilize equipment designed for the washing and sanitization of glassware.


Conduct routine maintenance on laboratory instruments, including changing chart records on stability chambers and managing water levels in dehumidifiers and water baths.

Organize and oversee an inventory of chemicals and reagents.

Assist in the regular disposal of chemical and laboratory waste containers.

Coordinate with disposal services for waste pickup and removal.


Understand the protocols for managing chemical and hazardous waste, receiving on-the-job training for specific waste handling procedures in the laboratory.

Execute all tasks in a safe and efficient manner.

Perform additional related duties as assigned.

This role may involve a flexible schedule of 20-30 hours per week.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred: Currently enrolled as a student in an accredited college or university program.

One year of experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.

Basic computer skills are required.

Ability to thrive in fast-paced settings.

Capable of independently managing various tasks related to glassware cleaning, storage, and organization as needed.

Working Conditions

This position may require occasional evening hours to meet job responsibilities.


Regular activities will include walking and standing for extended periods, as well as lifting and moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

This role involves working around machinery.

Possible exposure to chemicals, reagents, and hazardous materials.
