Role Responsibilities: As a Clinical Nurse specializing in Hematology Oncology, you will be responsible for:

  • Triage and management of patient symptoms.
  • Providing comprehensive patient education.
  • Coordinating care for diagnostic scans and appointments within the healthcare system and with community services.
  • Assisting patients and their families in navigating treatment and care processes.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary care teams and infusion staff to deliver patient education, counseling, and triage support.

Autonomous Nursing Care: This role requires the ability to assess and implement nursing actions appropriate for diverse patient populations, grounded in professional expertise and knowledge. Nurses are expected to practice independently in accordance with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance, exercising independent judgment within a collaborative care framework.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Active RN License issued by the State of California.
  • BART or BLS certification at the time of hire, with a commitment to obtain BART within six months.
  • A minimum of three years of RN experience, with a strong preference for Hematology/Oncology experience.
  • Outpatient oncology experience is essential.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills, alongside a consistent display of empathy and kindness.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • OCN certification.
  • Five or more years of RN experience.
  • Two or more years of Hematology/Oncology experience.
  • Experience in Surgical Oncology.
  • Familiarity with Epic systems.
  • Experience in triage and care coordination.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.

Special Conditions:

  • Flexibility to work various hours and locations as needed.
  • Employment is contingent upon a criminal background check and pre-employment physical examination.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday during an 8-hour day shift, with willingness to travel between various cancer centers.
  • Selected candidates may be appointed at the CNIII or CNIV level, subject to review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.

Compensation: The annual full pay range for this position is $123,902 - $173,659, subject to prorating based on appointment percentage. The hourly equivalent is approximately $83.17. Compensation factors include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs.
