About the Opportunity

WSP is seeking a highly skilled Senior Consultant, Mechanical Engineer to join our Power & Energy team in Augusta, ME. The successful candidate will be involved in projects with our Energy Team and contribute to a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenges.

Your Impact
  • Collaborate with Program leadership to drive improvement in support of the Quality Plan.
  • Implement Program/Project focused Quality Plan to monitor, track, and report on quality documentation and progress.
  • Responsible for field inspections and controls, quality assessments, and administrative activities.
  • Review contractor and material supplier Quality Plans for adherence to the Program's Quality Contractor Program within the Project Management Plan.
  • Review project design and vendor drawings and manuals in order to fully understand installation requirements.
  • Oversee program quality activities to ensure conformance to the ISO certified Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Assist with contractor and staff training and communications of QMS and EMS processes and procedures.
  • Conduct drop-in Assessments, support audit program.
  • Coach project teams on implementing project quality plans, as well as corrective action plans.
  • Identify training needs in collaboration with operations leaders and deliver as required.
  • Report quality concerns or deficiencies/improvements in QA/QC system to the Quality Manager.
  • Perform and document, as needed, non-conformances, root cause analysis, lessons learned / best practice reviews to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide early notification to senior management and Quality Director on projects with quality concerns or issues.
  • Support quality related continual improvement initiatives.
  • Works on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Provides their expert input to the projects.
  • Coordinates the interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
  • Represents the project and corresponding discipline in front of the client, in coordination with the Project Engineer.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Consultant, Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline or closely related, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction and/or maintenance. The candidate should have a working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

The successful candidate will be able to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and Quality issues in a construction environment, and have completed an OSHA 30 Hour Outreach Construction Course or be able to complete within one (1) year of start date. Project management experience with small to mid-level projects, including tracking hours and expenses for project work, is also required.

The ideal candidate will have effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members. A proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies is also essential.
