As a Counselor, you will have a vital role in enhancing the lives of our clients by delivering essential counseling services tailored to your assigned clients. This includes conducting individual, family, and group therapy sessions while fostering an environment conducive to long-term recovery. You will collaborate closely with the Clinical Supervisor and Executive Director to create and uphold a therapeutic atmosphere for our residents.

Qualifications:

  • CDCA (Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant) or a higher certification in Ohio
  • A minimum of one year (2,000 hours) of relevant experience in chemical dependency counseling, whether through compensated work or supervised internships is required.
  • A preferred bachelor's degree in a behavioral science or related discipline along with an LCDC III certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the counseling requirements of clients
  • Conduct assessments for substance abuse diagnoses utilizing DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual) criteria to determine the suitable level of care based on ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) standards.
  • Prepare the substance abuse counseling segment of the client treatment plan
  • Develop discharge and continuum of care plans to facilitate transitions to appropriate levels of care.
  • Document all counseling and educational services, assessments, reassessments, referrals, and follow-ups in the client's clinical records.
  • Manage a client caseload, including all case management and utilization review updates, treatment planning, and clinical documentation as necessary.
  • Coordinate support services for clients and their families, ensuring accurate records of services provided in the client's clinical documentation.
  • Engage with referral sources, including legal, educational, and employment contacts.
  • Facilitate necessary interventions for crisis-oriented issues through a collaborative multi-disciplinary team approach for assigned clients.
  • Adhere to Pinnacle Treatment Centers' policies and federal confidentiality regulations (42-CFR, Pt 2).
