Job Summary

This Senior Social Worker position serves as a member of the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) team, providing comprehensive, accessible, and Veteran-centered mental health care. The BHIP Treatment Coordinator will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and coordinating the treatment of Veterans within BHIP and the Mental Health Service Line.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide initial assessments and evaluations for Veterans, including walk-ins and phone assessments to determine risk, urgency, and appropriate treatment settings.
  • Work with BHIP supervisors to conduct panel management of all BHIP team members to ensure timely and quality mental health care for Veterans.
  • Collaborate with the Local Recovery Coordinator and Mental Health Complex Care Social Workers to engage Veterans at increased risk for suicide, including providing additional psychotherapy appointments as needed.
  • May serve as the Mental Health Treatment Coordinator (MHTC) and work closely with BHIP supervisors and Mental Health Service Line leadership to identify and address process issues within BHIP and/or the MHSL.
  • Refer clients to other programs and professionals as appropriate and participate in consultation with other team members.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
  • Licensure or certification by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
  • At least two years of experience post-advanced practice clinical licensure, with one year equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
  • Expertise in a specialized area of social work practice, with certification or other post-masters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university.
  • Ability to provide supervision for licensure and demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in areas such as intervention and treatment modalities, differential diagnosis, and outcome evaluations.
Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Central Standard Time.
