Job Opportunity: STEM Educator

Spark-Y: Youth Action Labs is seeking a dedicated and passionate STEM Educator to join our team. As a STEM Educator, you will play a vital role in empowering youth with hands-on education rooted in sustainability and entrepreneurship.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced educator to facilitate hands-on learning experiences for youth in K-12 learning environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability, biology, horticulture, or a related field, and be able to tailor curriculum and activities to state learning standards.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the needs of individual programs and determine learning goals.
  • Map Spark-Y content to determine what topics and activities to include in each lesson.
  • Develop new curriculum or content to meet the needs of individual programs.
  • Facilitate on-the-ground learning at partner classrooms or workshops through hands-on activities and presentations.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of individual learning and record progress.
  • Be point-of-contact for program-specific matters with Program Manager or external program partners.
  • Attend staff-wide and program-specific meetings.
  • Attend ongoing Educator development training.
Requirements
  • Proven track record teaching, public speaking, or presentation experience.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Interest or education in sustainability, agriculture, horticulture, or similar.
Benefits
  • Annual Salary: $36,000-44,000 determined by experience.
  • Annual Raise: Eligible for a market calibration upon completion of a Tier 1 license.
  • PTO: 12 days + 7 personal / sick days, most federal holidays, and 2 day PTO accrual annually.
  • Monthly Health Stipend: $125/month.
  • Tele-Health Enrollment: Provides access to basic consultation and prescription services.
  • Tax-Advantaged Retirement Plan (non-matching): Eligible to contribute to a 401K investment account after a 90 day probationary period.
  • Maternity / Paternity Policy: Following FMLA unpaid leave (with your job protected and still available after a 12 week leave period), Spark-Y also offers 3 paid weeks (15 business days) during this period.
