Position Overview

The primary responsibilities of the Science Educator for Middle School include planning, organizing, and executing effective instructional programs within a middle school environment that fosters and encourages students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological development.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Planning
  • Exhibits expertise in subject matter and teaching methodologies.
  • Designs, prepares, and delivers engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that promote active learning.
  • Adapts instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs.
  • Guides and supervises students in utilizing learning materials and equipment.
  • Employs relevant technology to enhance and differentiate instruction.
  • Utilizes assessments effectively to advance student learning.
Classroom Management
  • Establishes a classroom environment that fosters respect, rapport, and learning.
  • Builds effective relationships with students.
  • Sets clear and consistent expectations for learning, behavior, and achievement.
  • Effectively monitors and manages student behavior.
Communication
  • Engages in effective communication with families, students, and colleagues.
  • Provides timely and comprehensive updates on student progress.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Aligns with the mission and values of the school.
  • Supports departmental and school-wide programs and priorities.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with faculty, students, and parents.
  • Upholds confidentiality and demonstrates professional conduct.
  • Seeks opportunities for professional development and growth.
  • Participates in required meetings, school events, and committee work.
  • Engages in daily student arrival and dismissal duties.
  • Ensures student safety during bus duties and hallway monitoring.
  • Conducts home visits to students' families twice per academic year.
  • Completes additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Experience
  • B.A./B.S. degree in education or a related field.
  • State certification in appropriate subject areas (5-8 Science). Applicants with pending credentials are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Highly organized and punctual.
  • Customer-focused approach with a high degree of flexibility.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience integrating technology into teaching and learning.
  • Proficiency in positive, constructive disciplinary methods.
  • Familiarity with contemporary teaching and learning theories.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in historically underserved educational communities.
  • Teaching license for Grades 5-8 with experience and competency in STEM instruction.
Compensation

Salary: $44,880+

Our compensation package is based on the KIPP Minnesota pay scale and includes comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, life, long-term disability, and retirement options, along with an annual salary review.
