About the Role

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a key leadership position at Georgia College & State University, responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight of the university's information technology department. The CIO will lead the development and implementation of integrated IT plans and policies, ensuring the university's IT functions are aligned with its strategic goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The CIO will oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, providing leadership and direction in the management and operation of information technologies and services. This includes:

  • Leading the development and implementation of IT strategic plans and policies
  • Providing institutional-wide leadership and direction in the management and operation of information technologies and services
  • Overseeing the IT budgeting process, including the Student Technology Fee
  • Guiding the design, establishment, and maintenance of the IT organizational structure and staffing
  • Working collaboratively with other units across campus to ensure the university is leading the way with innovative pedagogies and classroom environments


Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of IT-related experience, with 3-5 years at a management level. Experience with enterprise-level ERP systems and higher education is preferred. The CIO will be responsible for maintaining knowledge and understanding of current and developing technology systems and equipment, as well as ensuring the security of institutional data and systems.
