Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Medical Specimen Collector to join our team at RWJ Barnabas. As a Medical Specimen Collector, you will be responsible for collecting blood and non-blood specimens from patients in a variety of settings, including physician offices and nursing homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect blood and non-blood specimens from patients using venipuncture and microcollection techniques
- Prepare specimens for transport to laboratories, ensuring accurate labeling and handling
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory staff to ensure smooth specimen collection and processing
- Maintain accurate records of specimen collection, processing, and transport
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a recognized phlebotomy course or equivalent experience
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- 2 years of phlebotomy experience preferred
