Batten and Shaw is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Traveling Healthcare Construction Project Manager to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe execution of daily construction activities at job sites, ensuring high-quality results, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive site safety program, including weekly job site safety meetings, job site safety checklists, and daily observation of safe work practices.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA guidelines and develop required documentation, including life safety plans, emergency action plans, and contact information sheets.
- Hold initial safety orientation training with every subcontractor prior to their starting work on-site.
- Schedule:
- Read and study construction documents, including specifications, contracts, shop drawings, and blueprints, to determine construction requirements and develop plan procedures for execution.
- Accurately scope out the length and difficulty of project tasks, seeking input from subcontractors and owners to build an effective schedule.
- Develop a schedule and phasing plan in conjunction with the Project Manager, managing an effective near-term schedule and overall job schedule.
- Mobilize and demobilize to and from the job site.
- Quality:
- Oversee daily construction activities at job sites, including scheduling of subcontractors, requisition, and delivery of equipment and materials, to deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.
- Manage all activities according to written policies and procedures, safety rules, infection control procedures, applicable building codes, and state and federal requirements.
- Strive for minimal punch list issues needing to be resolved.
- Direct all company field staff, including third-party carpenters/laborers.
- Hold regular meetings with subcontractors/foremen to ensure compliance with infection control, quality, project schedules, and safety requirements.
- Actively participate in subcontractor interviews.
- Manage preconstruction and pre-installation meetings with subcontractors.
- Manage mock-ups according to job site requirements.
- Supervise 80% and 100% punch list inspections.
- In conjunction with the project manager, oversee commissioning activities at the job site.
- Coordinate and manage geotechnical and structural testing inspections, as well as local and state agency inspections.
- Communication:
- Work closely with the Project Manager to maintain an open line of communication and provide updates on items that impact schedule and budget.
- Build and maintain successful owner relationships by seeking to understand the owner's point of view and needs.
- Manage effective daily relationships and meetings with facility staff, construction managers, DPOs, subcontractors, architects, and engineers.
- Effectively participate in OAC meetings and report necessary action steps and activities to the Project Manager and other responsible parties.
- Complete all accounting and operations required documentation, recording information related to personnel, production, and job site activity in accordance with company policy.
- Maintain a strong degree of professionalism in all aspects of oral and written communication.
Requirements:
- 5+ years' experience as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects.
- Healthcare construction experience.
- Demonstrated experience with new construction and renovation projects.
- Minimum of OSHA 30 training.
- Active First Aid and CPR certification.
- Understanding of ICRA infection control requirements.
