We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Communications Marketing Officer to join our team at Harvard University. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our communications and marketing efforts, developing and implementing strategic plans to promote the university's programs and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to promote the university's programs and priorities, including the development of messaging, branding, and marketing materials.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to senior managers and faculty on communications and marketing matters, including crisis communications and issues management.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of internal communications strategies and tools to ensure that university staff, students, and faculty are aware of university programs and priorities.
  • Develop and execute a digital and social media strategy to enhance understanding of the digital landscape, audience engagement, and analytics utilization.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a publications and editorial strategy for the university, promoting quality and consistency in editorial content and design.
  • Manage local, national, and international media relations plans to give visibility to university faculty members, academic programs, research programs, and student and alumni life.
  • Develop and promote the university's brand, including its graphical identity in the market, distinctive and unique attributes, and strengths in comparison with comparable institutions.
  • Oversee the Office of Communications, with overall responsibility for fiscal management and effective staff engagement and development.
  • Develop long-term strategic and annual operating plans, budgets, and goals for the Office of Communications and effectively manage the successful implementation of those plans.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in communications and marketing, with a proven track record of success in developing and implementing strategic communications plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver compelling messaging and presentations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and develop insights to inform communications and marketing strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
