Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at The Salvation Army USA Western Territory. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing food for our program participants, ensuring a safe and healthy dining experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare food according to menus and nutritional guidelines
  • Clean and organize the kitchen and food service area
  • Set up workstations with needed ingredients and equipment
  • Maintain a sanitized and orderly environment
  • Monitor food item quality at all stages of the cooking process
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Ensure all food and items are stored correctly
  • Assist in special meal production for activities/programs
  • Answer, report to, and follow instructions from Food Service Manager, Sous Chef, and/or Executive Director
Requirements
  • Experience in an institutional cooking setting, or similar (preferred)
  • Experience with culinary industry best practices
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods
  • Physical ability to perform assigned duties, verified by a medical professional (within seven days of employment)
  • Tuberculosis clearance verification (provided within seven days of employment - Company provided)
Working Conditions

The Cook will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with frequent exposure to heat, steam, and cleaning chemicals. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required.
