Job Description

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is a market leader for high-speed, high-bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market. We are seeking an Advanced Technology Engineer to evaluate and assess new technologies for implementation in high-speed cable and connector solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead heat transfer fluids testing efforts and evaluate their properties, efficacy, and interaction with interconnect components.
  • Provide technical support for liquid cooling solutions to the ACS development team.
  • Conduct CFD simulations for systems immersed in cooling liquids and validate designs and design improvements for connectors and cable manufacturing.
  • Plan and execute Phase Gate projects, including design, build, and validation of new products and processes, evaluation and assessment of enabling materials and technologies, and root cause analysis and corrective actions for existing products and processes.
  • Collaborate with the development team to identify material and process needs and bring up new technologies that support Amphenol's technology strategy for interconnect development.
  • Analyze results in Excel, Minitab, or equivalent to find data-driven insights.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Material Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent education/work experience.
  • Experience with thermal management applications for 1-phase and 2-phase heat transfer fluids.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in heat transfer fluids, synthesis, testing, and analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of organic liquids and their interface with plastics and metals.
  • Proficiency in characterization techniques such as GC-MS, FTIR, EDS, SEM, DSC, TGA, rheology.
  • Experience with system for electronics cooling.
  • Technical understanding of data center facilities and infrastructure.
  • Experience with material processing techniques extrusion, wire coating, thermoplastics, and silicone injection molding.
  • Experience with solid modeling tools - Pro/E and/or SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency in FEA software like Ansys, Moldflow, Compuplast, or Polyflow desired.
  • Experience with data analysis software, MS Excel, Matlab, and Minitab.
  • Collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills.
  • Initiative-taking nature, desire, and ability to make hands-on positive impact.
