CNB is seeking a qualified, motivated, and client-focused individual to join our team as a Residential Mortgage Specialist in our Hillsdale, Main Office location.


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Residential Mortgage Specialist (RMS) actively seeks new residential mortgage opportunities and promotes County National Bank products to achieve established loan quality and production targets.

In this ongoing sales role, the RMS consistently identifies, develops, and nurtures a robust network of business relationships that serve as a reliable source of referrals for new mortgage lending prospects.

The RMS's network may include real estate professionals, builders, personal and professional contacts, and is further enhanced by regular participation in business development activities, community initiatives to promote homeownership, and professional organizations.

The RMS responds to customer inquiries and referrals generated from their own contacts as well as other County National Bank business channels.

The RMS conducts interviews with potential borrowers to analyze financial and credit information, determines customer financing goals, advises clients on products/pricing policies and guidelines, and gathers any additional required documentation.

The RMS ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining comprehensive knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics, complying with all Federal and State compliance policies, and adhering to HMDA requirements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops a Business Referral Network and maintains successful relationships through marketing, cold calling, prospecting, and networking activities.
  • Identifies new mortgage lending opportunities.
  • Meets with clients as necessary during various stages of the loan process.
  • Participates in community initiatives to promote homeownership and County National Bank.
  • Handles internal and external communication effectively.
  • Reviews and analyzes credit and financial data.
  • Determines borrower financing objectives and goals.
  • Presents and explains appropriate County National Bank products and programs.
  • Assists clients with applications and processes required disclosures.
  • Communicates pricing and lock rate information.
  • Identifies opportunities to cross-sell additional Bank products.
  • Collects supporting loan documentation and submits a complete package to the Mortgage Loan Department for processing.
  • Attends mortgage closings at local Title Companies.
  • Exceeds expectations of borrowers and referral partners consistently.
  • Communicates and obtains underwriting conditions.
  • Manages and maintains the mortgage pipeline.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, realtors, and referral partners regarding loan application progress.
  • Responds promptly to processors, underwriters, closers, and other CNB support staff.
  • Participates in bank committee meetings as necessary.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all lending programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Complies with all State and Federal regulatory requirements, including the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Maintains confidentiality of customer information.
  • Ensures regular, punctual attendance.
  • Remains current in assigned training and continuing education for designation retention.
  • Performs other various duties as assigned.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS

INTERNAL: Regular communication with other loan support staff and internal referral partners.

EXTERNAL: Regular communication with insurance agencies, title companies, realtors, attorney offices, and credit reporting agencies.


SKILLS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of mortgage lending experience with a focus on generating self-sourced business preferred.
  • Experience with Freddie Mac, FHLBI, GRH, MSHDA, and government lending is preferred.
  • Understanding of Federal Regulations governing Real Estate Lending.
  • Ability to analyze and comprehend complex financial data and provide financial alternatives.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer service to all clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to represent the bank positively and professionally.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Enthusiasm for assignments and ability to meet established timelines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
