Role Summary
The Residential Mortgage Specialist actively seeks new residential mortgage opportunities and promotes BankTalent HQ's offerings to achieve set loan quality and production targets. This ongoing sales position requires the individual to build, nurture, and maintain a robust network of business relationships that serve as a consistent source of referrals for new mortgage lending prospects. The network may include real estate professionals, builders, and personal contacts, bolstered by participation in business development initiatives and community engagement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a Business Referral Network through effective marketing, outreach, and networking strategies.
- Identify and pursue new mortgage lending opportunities.
- Engage with clients throughout various stages of the loan process.
- Participate in community initiatives to promote homeownership and BankTalent HQ.
- Handle incoming calls from both internal and external sources.
- Conduct meetings with potential borrowers.
- Analyze credit and financial information.
- Determine clients' financing goals and objectives.
- Present and explain suitable BankTalent HQ products and programs.
- Assist clients with the application process and ensure all necessary disclosures are signed.
- Provide updates on pricing and rate locks.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell additional banking products.
- Gather required loan documentation and submit complete packages for processing.
- Attend mortgage closings at designated locations.
- Consistently exceed client and referral partner expectations.
- Communicate and manage underwriting conditions effectively.
- Maintain and oversee the mortgage pipeline.
- Keep clients, realtors, and referral partners informed on loan application progress.
- Respond promptly to inquiries from processing, underwriting, and closing teams.
- Participate in necessary bank committee meetings.
- Stay updated on all lending programs, policies, and procedures.
- Comply with all relevant State and Federal regulations.
- Safeguard the confidentiality of customer information.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Engage in ongoing training and education for professional development.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Regularly interact with loan support staff and internal referral partners.
External Communication
Engage with insurance agencies, title companies, realtors, and credit reporting agencies.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of three years of experience in mortgage lending, with a focus on self-sourced business.
- Familiarity with government lending programs.
- An understanding of Federal Regulations related to Real Estate Lending.
- Basic accounting knowledge and the ability to analyze complex financial data.
- A passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
- Strong interpersonal skills to represent the bank professionally.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
The role is primarily office-based, with occasional travel required to fulfill job responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
Employees must be able to communicate effectively, manage information on computers, and travel as necessary.
