Position Overview
Umialik Insurance Company, part of the Western National Insurance Group, is looking for a dedicated Underwriting Assistant to become a vital member of our Commercial Lines Team.

The individual in this position will deliver exceptional administrative support to underwriters and agencies by evaluating and inputting transactions into established systems for commercial lines.

This role includes a comprehensive training program, continuous support from colleagues, and a clear career progression within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and established practices to ensure prompt customer service to underwriters and agencies.
  • Evaluate and input transactions for commercial lines business, focusing primarily on operational tasks.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for departmental transactions, swiftly determining the appropriate area for transaction direction.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in designated systems accessible to relevant personnel.
  • Update routine reports and analyze information for clarity and accuracy.
Qualifications
Essential Skills:
  • Proficient in proofreading written and electronic documents to identify and rectify errors.
  • Intermediate skills in Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Capacity to make independent business decisions when necessary.
  • Adept at managing a high volume of incoming transactions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Attributes:
  • Previous experience in the insurance sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with PointIn systems or similar policy administration systems is a plus.
  • A genuine interest in professional growth and learning within the insurance field is preferred.
  • Coursework towards AINS certification is desirable.
Compensation Overview
The hiring range for this position is $26.15 per hour.

However, the base pay offered may vary based on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience, as well as other factors such as the role's scope and location.
