Position Overview
The Sourcing Engineer is responsible for establishing and nurturing strong collaborative relationships with engineering, operations, quality teams, and key suppliers. This role is crucial in achieving targets related to cost, quality, and delivery while fostering positive supplier partnerships to maximize outcomes for Ingersoll Rand and its clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate negotiations and supplier selection processes, including the Request for Proposal (RFP) with all relevant stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue new cost-saving opportunities through data analysis (spend, purchase price variance, etc.) and hands-on evaluation of materials in production.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to qualify new components and resolve significant performance issues (quality, delivery, warranty, etc.) as necessary to support manufacturing, purchasing, and quality objectives.
- Negotiate critical terms with suppliers, including pricing, payment conditions, lead times, and inventory management programs.
- Document and monitor information to ensure timely and accurate assessment of performance related to sourcing activities and savings.
- Assist local teams in efficiently addressing escalated issues within the plants.
- Lead Procurement New Product Development (NPD) initiatives through preferred supplier programs and Requests for Quotation (RFQs).
- Align strategies across commodity and sector localization, plant rationalization, and similar initiatives.
- Coordinate with commodity teams, materials, operations, engineering, finance, quality, and field operations to complete projects and realize expected benefits within project timelines.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant job experience.
- Previous experience in a sourcing or supply chain role is preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills and vendor assessment capabilities are essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, is required.
- Advanced Excel skills (financial and logical functions, working with multiple worksheets and workbooks, editing and using macros) are strongly preferred.
- Experience in lean manufacturing or Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt) is a plus.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data, ensuring its accuracy and relevance, to drive decision-making and present findings to management.
- Experience with Oracle and SAP in a global context is preferred.
Travel & Work Arrangements
- This position is primarily onsite with some flexibility, requiring the ability to travel up to 10%.
