The Alternative Investments & Manager Selection Group ("AIMS" or the "Group") operates within the Asset Management Division (AMD) and serves as Goldman Sachs' specialized manager selection entity. This group encompasses a wide array of investment solutions, including private equity, real estate, credit/fixed income, ESG-integrated strategies, public equity, and hedge funds. We manage a diverse range of programs, targeted sector-specific strategies, customized portfolios, and advisory services. Our investors typically access opportunities through new fund commitments, secondary market investments, co-investments, seed capital investments, investment manager equity/revenue share stakes, or fund of fund solutions. The AIMS Group stands as one of the most extensive and established "open-architecture" programs globally, overseeing or advising on assets exceeding $250 billion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct sourcing and thorough due diligence of technology-oriented private equity funds, including venture capital and growth equity funds, for potential inclusion in fund of funds, separate account mandates, and advisory mandates.
  • Deliver investment opportunities to the Investment Committee through comprehensive written and oral presentations.
  • Facilitate the execution of investments by collaborating closely with both internal teams (e.g., internal counsel) and external partners (e.g., private equity managers).
  • Monitor the performance and risk profile of current investments.
  • Perform industry research to support sourcing, due diligence, and investment monitoring activities.
  • Provide portfolio updates and articulate investment perspectives to AIMS' clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in manager selection, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, leveraged finance, private equity, or other investment domains.
  • Exceptional numerical and analytical capabilities for evaluating investment opportunities.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and writing skills, enabling the candidate to make compelling recommendations to the Investment Committee.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a global team.
