Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently evaluate and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to concurrent engineering projects.
  • Apply engineering judgment in making adaptations and modifications to projects.
  • Manage one or more engineers and/or designers.
  • Interact with Project Managers and other engineers.
  • Direct project workflow of engineers, designers, and drafters to ensure project completion.
  • Responsible for the technical content and quality of the work, and the functional integration of individual project tasks.
  • Select and apply engineering principles and concepts in the field of specialization with advanced working knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Responsible for reporting on work progress.
  • Provide input to the Project Execution Plan.
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Frequently interact with clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Responsible for following and implementing corporate safety protocols and for scheduling mandatory safety meetings.

Complexity, Decision-Making, Problem-Solving & Nature of Impact:

  • Conform to and utilize established design and quality standards for project deliverables.
  • Follow direction and support efforts of Project Team and Project Manager.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating discipline-specific information to Lead Engineer and appropriate team members.
  • Establish and implement the project design basis for discipline.
  • Manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and work with Lead Engineer to develop contingency plans.
  • Demonstrate an advanced level of proficiency in technical subjects.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrate an advanced ability to work with various engineering software packages in standalone or network configurations.
  • Possess advanced technical skills and understanding of interdisciplinary design processes.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload for self and others.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead and direct project personnel.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for management of engineers and designers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university required.
  • Typically, twelve plus years related engineering experience.
  • PE preferred.
  • Ability to work with engineering software packages a plus.
  • Microsoft Office experience required.

Environment/Working Conditions:

  • Most work to be performed in office environment with periodic visits to project sites and/or short-term field assignments.
  • Some travel required.

Other Considerations/Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time; manual dexterity; may stand for prolonged periods of time, walk and/or climb through various types of terrain where balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching may be required.
  • Valid driver's license.

Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to Lead Engineer, Engineering Manager, or Resource Center Manager.
