Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Recreation and Events Coordinator to join our team at the City of Odessa. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and implementing special recreation programs, events, and activities that meet the needs of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and plan recreation activities, sports programs, and events for the City, ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement marketing and promotional campaigns to promote P&R events and programs.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and participation levels, and research new recreation program opportunities.
  • Manage facilities rental and program accounting records, and prepare operational and financial reports.
  • Promote good relationships with neighborhood and community groups, and coordinate with other City departments and community agencies.
  • Solicit and research funding opportunities, grants, sponsorships, and donations.
  • Monitor program activities and resolve complaints, requests, and security issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • One year of experience in recreation program administration, preferably with fundraising experience.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws governing parks and public facilities, including OSHA and ADA requirements.
  • Skills in program planning, evaluation, and management, as well as community engagement and relations.
Working Environment

This is a standard office environment with occasional travel to recreation facilities and community events.
