Job Summary

The Banquet Bartender is responsible for delivering exceptional service to guests and servers while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the Beverage Department.

Requirements and Responsibilities

Minimum of 2 years of bartending experience in a hotel or related field is required. A valid Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Certification is mandatory at the start date, and a valid Texas Food Handler's Certification is required before the start date. The ideal candidate must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately, and work well in stressful, high-pressure situations. They must also be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary, and be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions. Additionally, the candidate must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.

Key Job Duties and Functions

The successful candidate will approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner, maintain regular attendance in compliance with the hotel's standards, and maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming. They will also comply with the hotel's standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations, maintain a friendly and warm demeanor, and set up the bar according to hotel standards and Banquet Event Order to ensure that guests are served promptly and efficiently. The candidate will prepare beverages and cocktails according to the hotel's mixing and presentation standards, serve guests with all beverage requirements in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner, break down the bar after the completion of functions, store liquor, supplies, and equipment according to the hotel's standards, and follow all state liquor laws. They will also know hotel services and facilities, abide by all hotel policies and safety rules, and respond to guests' problems, complaints, and accidents. The candidate must be familiar with all fire exit locations and fire extinguisher locations and know how to operate them, and ensure that the bar and service areas are kept clean and tidy during service. They will attend meetings as required by management and perform other tasks/jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
