Diagnostic Imaging Specialist PRN

Parkland Health and Hospital System is seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team on a PRN basis. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for acquiring high-quality diagnostic radiographic images for a range of basic to complex imaging procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Acquire quality diagnostic radiographic images for various imaging procedures.
  • Adapt procedures and technical factors to accommodate patient conditions and history.
  • Participate in quality review programs to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Understand and adhere to radiation safety regulations and infection control standards.
  • Utilize technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Administer contrast material and observe patients for adverse reactions.
  • Enter accurate patient exam data into the electronic health record.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and room preparation to ensure proper setup before each procedure.
  • Interview patients, conduct screenings, and obtain medical history as needed.
  • Assist physicians as needed in performing procedures.
  • Ensure images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and labeling.
  • Maintain quality assurance records and report equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Transport patients to and from radiographic areas as needed.
  • Consult with physicians and other healthcare providers regarding x-ray orders and protocols.
Requirements:
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography (R) within 3 months of hire.
  • Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) - Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS Level CPR course completion card or obtain certification during initial orientation.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Radiologic equipment and patient-centered behaviors.
Accountabilities:
  • Identify ways to improve work processes and customer satisfaction.
  • Makes recommendations to supervisors, implements, and monitors results as appropriate.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments and trends in the field.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines.
  • Develops effective internal controls to promote adherence with laws and accreditation agency requirements.
