Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Behavior Intervention Specialist to join our team at North Branford Public Schools. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in helping students with social-emotional-behavioral needs succeed in their academic and personal endeavors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement Student Behavior Intervention Plans: Develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans to support students with social-emotional-behavioral needs.
  • Maintain and Report Student Records: Accurately maintain and report student records, including progress notes and behavioral data.
  • Communicate with Classroom Teachers: Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure consistent support and communication regarding student progress.
  • Perform Physical Management: Provide physical support and management in emergency situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.
  • Adhere to RBT Ethics Code: Discharge duties in accordance with the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Ethics Code, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by a supervising Board Certified Behavior Analyst or Director of Special Services.
Requirements
  • Age and Education: Must be at least 18 years of age and have demonstrated completion of high school or equivalent/higher.
  • Background Checks: Pass all necessary background checks.
  • Training and Certification: Completion of required training, including a 40-hour online course, required supervision hours by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, passing score on the RBT Competency Assessment, and initial RBT examination and annual recertification process.
  • Physical Management Certification: Current certification or ability to obtain certification in Physical Management.
  • Experience: Previous work with special education students, elementary school age students, and students with social-emotional-behavioral needs is preferred.
