Maintenance Superintendent Job Description

The Maintenance Superintendent plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the facility. This position oversees the planning and execution of maintenance strategies to guarantee exceptional equipment availability, product quality, and production throughput.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all maintenance, facilities maintenance, and projects for the casting plant
  • Develop and implement metrics-driven approaches to eliminate repetitive issues and ensure safe decision-making
  • Lead and develop direct reports, supervisors, maintenance technicians, trainees, and interns within the assigned department
  • Delegate work assigned to the maintenance department
  • Minimize breakdowns or disruptions in production processes by developing and adhering to a preventative maintenance and inspection list and schedule
  • Investigate root causes of machine breakdowns and recommend improvements, new equipment to reduce and eliminate future occurrences
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure proper functioning of equipment, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Develop new methods to optimize machinery and equipment to reduce operating costs
  • Represent the maintenance department at meetings
  • Build and maintain relationships with cross-departmental leadership and support the overall needs of the business
  • Participate in the selection of hiring and give recommendations for releasing maintenance associates and supervisors; keep records of departmental activities, as required

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree, trade, or technical school
  • Strong Mechanical (preferred) and/or Electrical skill set
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
