Job Summary

The Human Immunology Lab Manager will oversee the operation of the Core facility, ensuring the efficient management of samples and datasets. This role requires technical expertise in assay design and execution, as well as the ability to develop new assays and procedures in collaboration with researchers. The incumbent will also be responsible for drafting study reports and contributing to scientific manuscripts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise staff members, including the Flow Cytometry Core Operator
  • Oversee all Core facility billing procedures and financial reporting
  • Work with the Lab Director and University financial office to establish user rates for core instruments and services
  • Develop and implement processes for tracking core usage data and generating user invoices
  • Monitor HIL core revenues and expenditures, providing updates to the Lab Director and department Chair as requested
  • Oversee sample inventory, samples in queue, and data distribution for users and collaborators
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of related experience, including experience operating immunology core instrumentation
  • Experience training students, technicians, and other faculty on core instrumentation use
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience troubleshooting instrumentation issues and working with maintenance agreements and vendors
  • Experience with core facility financials (inventory control, purchasing, usage monitoring, invoicing)
Work Environment

M-F days, with some weekends or evenings may be required
