About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Cost Estimator Specialist to join our team at Holmberg Mechanical. As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for creating accurate and detailed cost estimates for HVAC &/or Plumbing/Piping projects.

In this role, you will work closely with our estimating team to gather data, calculate costs, and compile estimates. You will also take the lead on larger projects, working directly with the Estimating Department Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine the scope of work required.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Conduct pre-bid site visits to gather necessary information.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to understand project requirements.
  • Research and solicit material and equipment quotes to ensure cost-effective, complete, and responsible quotes.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals to select the most suitable partners.
  • Meet deadlines by preparing comprehensive and professional estimates.
  • Identify potential risks or issues that may impact project cost or timeline.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team, Account Executives, and management to develop estimates.
  • Update and maintain a database of current and historical cost data.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proven experience as an HVAC, Plumbing, & Piping Estimator or similar role in the construction industry.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using QuoteSoft or other on-screen takeoff software for cost estimating.
  • Familiarity with Revit or 3D estimating background is welcomed.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing & piping systems, codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical industry experience, and a Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $95,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
