Job Summary

The Medical Screener Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plasma donation center. This individual will be responsible for assisting qualified donors in completing the screening process, which includes assessing health history, answering medical questions, and performing health screening procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist donors in completing the screening process, including assessing health history and answering medical questions
  • Perform health screening procedures, such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature checks
  • Collect finger stick samples to obtain donor hematocrit and total protein levels
  • May educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma
  • Register applicants and transfer donors as needed
  • Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to appropriate staff members
  • Monitor donor flow and alert Group Leader or Supervisor of any issues
  • Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system
  • Understand and follow policies and procedures related to hyper immune programs
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies
  • Promote safety in all actions and maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three months experience in a clerical or customer service related position, preferably in a medical or health provider environment
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds
  • Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens
